Dr. Hannah McGee is a Licensed Psychologist. She enjoys helping adult clients from any background navigate presenting concerns such as generalized, social and health anxiety, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and low self-esteem. She has extensive training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Processing Therapy (IPT), and other evidence-based treatments to meet client needs. Dr. McGee is currently in training to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapy for trauma. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process that is best utilized when client and therapist work together to meet client goals. She utilizes an integrative approach to therapy and works closely with clients to find the treatment strategies that work best for addressing their concerns.
Dr. McGee earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from The University of Kentucky (UK) and her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown College. Prior to joining Viewpoint in 2021, she provided therapy and assessment services in a variety of clinical settings such as the Jesse G. Harris Jr. Psychological Services Center, UK's Center for the Advancement of Women's Health, the UK Counseling Center and Eastern State Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McGee has conducted research projects exploring relationships between religious beliefs/behaviors and risky behaviors in underage college students. Her dissertation work explored the relationship between religious beliefs/behaviors and risky substance use behaviors in freshman college students adjusting to the college environment. Her research also investigated the efficacy of adolescent alcohol use intervention programs based on age of program administration. Finally, she has served as an adjunct professor in the psychology department at Eastern Kentucky University.
