Dr. Brooke McGarry enjoys working with clients from various backgrounds with a range of presenting concerns, including trauma, adjustment, anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, and emotion regulation issues. Dr. McGarry has experience working with infants, children, adolescents, and adults. She especially enjoys her work with teens and young adults. She is particularly passionate about working with individuals who have had endured
traumatic experiences that continue to affect their current behavior, feelings, functioning, and relationships. Dr. McGarry has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and other evidence-based treatments to meet the needs of clients. She is also in training to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Dr. McGarry takes a client-centered approach to therapy and believes that each client is the expert on their own life. She works collaboratively with clients (and the parents of youth) to determine strategies and skills that work best for a client’s concerns. |
In addition to providing therapy services, Dr. McGarry is passionate about providing psychological assessment. Dr. McGarry has extensive experience assessing ADHD, learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mood problems, and personality disorders. She is dedicated to understanding individuals by providing comprehensive assessments and utilizing objective test data. This approach informs diagnoses, treatment, and recommendations for future success.
Dr. McGarry earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with Minors in Neuroscience and Biology from Butler University. She received her Master and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University. During her doctoral studies, her concentration was in the child and adolescent population. Dr. McGarry completed her internship training at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana where she provided therapy and assessment services at the University Medical Center Trauma Recovery Center, Behavioral Sciences Center, and within the inpatient psychiatric units. Previously, Dr. McGarry worked with a multidisciplinary team to conduct assessments for The Olympus Center at Best Point Education & Behavioral Health (formerly The Children’s Home) in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also provided school-based intervention and crisis intervention to elementary, middle, and high school students (ages 8 to 16) in the Erlanger-Elsmere school district.

Additionally, Dr. McGarry conducted child, adolescent, and adult neuropsychological assessments within a residential treatment center and on an outpatient basis at the Lindner Center of HOPE. Finally, Dr. McGarry provided psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults at a private practice in Blue Ash, Ohio.
As a temporarily licensed psychologist, Dr. McGarry’s clinical work is being supervised by Dr. Jennifer Ossege, licensed clinical psychologist and board approved clinical supervisor.
